  • Nuno Miguel Dias Cerca was born in 1978 in the town of Arouca, district of Aveiro. He finished is BSc in Microbiology, from the Superior School of Biotechnology, Portuguese Catholic University, in 2000. In 2001 he was a Lecturer at the Science and Technology Superior Institute of Mozambique. He started his PhD at the University of Minho, in 2002, and in 2004 he was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to the Channing Laboratory, Harvard Medical School, in Boston, USA. After finishing is PhD in 2006, he became a post-doctoral fellow at Virginia Commonwealth University, in Richmond, USA. Since 2008 he is an Assistant Researcher at the Center of Biological Engineering – Institute of Biotechnology and Bioengineering, University of Minho, Braga, Portugal.
  • His research interests include: bacterial biofilm infections, molecular biology and immunology. He is the chair of his department weekly research seminars, and since 2010 he is a member of the School Council of Engineering, from the University of Minho.
