Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme

The Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme

The Strathclyde Chancellor’s Fellowship Scheme will accelerate the further realisation of our vision through the appointment up to 50 new early career academic staff members in areas of strategic priority. Fellowships will be for a period of 5 years, normally at Lecturer level, with an expectation that the criteria for promotion to Senior Lecturer or above will be attained during this 5 year period. Fellows who meet the criteria for promotion by the end of the 5 year period and continue to demonstrate a strategic fit in terms of research interests, will be transferred to an open-ended (“tenured” equivalent) academic appointment at the appropriate level. Exceptionally, where a candidate has an established track record in research leadership, appointments may be made at Senior Lecturer level with the expectation that the criteria for promotion to Reader level will be attained during the 5 year Fellowship.

The Fellowship will offer the opportunity to grow the research portfolio through a reduced teaching load and limited administrative duties over the initial years, supported by the University’s academic probationary arrangements. As the Fellowship progresses an appropriate range of duties will be allocated, with mentoring support, to enable the Fellow to establish a balance of research, teaching, knowledge exchange and citizenship responsibilities where they will demonstrate the leadership and independence as appropriate to support their long term academic career.
