Towards a sustainable research career with progression based on merit

Euroscientist special issue focused on research budget cuts in Southern Europe countries

“How well are scientists from Southern Europe withering cuts? This is the topic of today’s special issue of our Euroscience web journal/Euroscientist/, dedicated to the scientists in South Europe. Austerity has taken its toll on European research and particularly on scientists from Southern Europe. In this special issue we bring an analysis of the impact of such conditions on scientists who stayed and on those who were forced to emigrate. We also bring you testimonies of researchers from Spain, Italy, Portugal and Greece sharing their experience of navigating the troubled waters of recession, when it comes to maintaining a seemingly steady research career path.” (source: Euroscientist magazine )
